About TFCEnergy
Our Strategy
TFC Energy has adopted a disciplined systems engineering process to develop a detailed rotor assembly design using blade profiles and dimensions for scalable HAWTs from 10kW to 50kW rated power. This new rotor assembly design will be fabricated from advanced composite materials using state of the art manufacturing techniques; leveraging SW Ohio’s regional manufacturing capabilities to quickly and cost effectively establish a manufacturing base is a top priority.
The drive and control system and the generator will be subjected to rigorous systems engineering analysis to establish requirements for each component/subassembly; compliance potential of commercially available components to satisfy those requirements will also be assessed. Iterations of this process will be performed until a system blueprint emerges that satisfies the set of component/subassembly and system level performance targets for our prototype design.
The remainder of the turbine system design is considered a low-risk effort in order to achieve our power output and cost/kWh targets. A commercially available tower system compatible with the wind turbine system will be selected and installed at an outdoor test site for full scale prototype testing. The test site will be selected based on a wind site survey that confirms it has prevailing class 2 winds to maximize the data collection opportunity. Our Team has already identified potential sites in Ohio with adequate land area, ideal topography, clear landscape, access to power, and owner approval; locations include Champaign, Greene and Montgomery Counties.
